Doug Downey, the Ontario Progressive Conservative candidate seeking re-election in Barrie–Springwater–Oro-Medonte, has received the endorsement of the Barrie Professional Fire Fighters Association.

The organization represents the city’s fire service professionals. In response, Downey expressed his gratitude for the endorsement.

“I am honoured to receive their endorsement – Our Ontario PC plan will build safer communities and clean up our streets,” he said.

He also stated that a re-elected Ontario PC government would continue providing frontline workers with the necessary tools and resources.

“We are standing shoulder-to-shoulder with frontline heroes and giving them the tools they need to succeed.”

Over the weekend, the Barrie Police Association officially endorsed Doug Downey for re-election.

Earlier in the Ontario election campaign, the Ontario Professional Fire Fighters Association announced its support for Doug Ford and the Ontario PC Party.

Ontario residents head to the polls on Feb. 27.
