Team
Marco Vigliotti is the editor-in-chief of Compass News and iPolitics. He’s been writing about federal politics on-and-off since 2015. In addition to his work with Compass News, he’s a regular guest on CBC Radio. He’s worked as a journalist in three different provinces, and previously served as the city editor for the Ottawa Citizen.
Stephen J. Donkers is a reporter with Compass News, covering municipal politics, infrastructure, development and community human-interest stories in Barrie. With deep roots in Barrie, Innisfil, Toronto and Oshawa, he began his career in Ontario’s film and television industry before transitioning into journalism and communications after studying at Humber Polytechnic. He works in marketing while continuing to report for Compass News. He lives in Barrie with his family.Â
Sydney Ko is a general assignment reporter at Compass News. Before moving to Ottawa, she worked at WBUR, an NPR-affiliate in Boston where she helped produce shows and reported on City Hall. She holds a master’s in journalism from Boston University and a bachelors degree from Queen’s. Outside the newsroom, she’s probably reading the latest fantasy series that’s trending on booktok.
Kamal Aboulmagd covers all things lobbying, from the movement of staff amongst government relations firms, to their lobbying activities both federally and provincially. He also covers the activities of the Ottawa Police Services (OPS). Before joining iPolitics, Kamal worked at various charities and NGOs both in Canada and in Egypt. He currently resides in Ottawa where you can find him at an outdoor basketball court.
