Reports of underdressed man result in arrest

Police responded to reports on Monday of a man who was underdressed for cold weather and standing outside a residence for a long period of time. Upon arrival, police located the 36-year-old male in a neighbourhood north of Bayview Drive and Little Avenue and learned he was wanted on an outstanding warrant by a nearby police service.

While taking him into custody, Barrie Police located a quantity of suspected methamphetamine. The man was transported to headquarters, where he was charged with possession and the outstanding warrant was processed.

In a news release, Barrie Police said although the man was taken into custody, the concerned resident who called the police likely saved him from suffering health issues in the cold weather.

Impaired driver arrested after unsafe U-Turn

Barrie Police were conducting RIDE on Cundles Road West on Friday evening when officers witnessed a vehicle make an abrupt U-Turn and pull into a nearby parking lot. After approaching the vehicle, the driver, a 35-year-old woman, was suspected to be impaired.

She has been charged with impaired driving and her car has been impounded for 7 days. Her license has been suspended for 90 days and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie in later this month.

Stolen truck located using vehicle tracking system

Barrie Police were able locate a pickup truck stolen overnight on Thursday due to the vehicle’s tracking system, police said in a news release.

The truck was reported stolen by the owner on Friday morning, and police were able to access its tracking system, which provided updates the exact locations of the vehicle.

With the assistance of the owner of the truck, police were able to track the movements of the stolen pickup to Bayview Drive, south of Big Bay Point Road, where a 38-year-old male and a 45-year-old female, both from Barrie, were arrested after they fled from the truck.
