Barrie Police arrest local man for child pornography following three-month investigation

Date:

Detectives from the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit arrested a 40-year-old Barrie man on Dec. 18, 2024 after a three-month investigation.

The accused is facing charges of accessing child pornography and distribution of child pornography, as well as two counts of possession of child pornography.

Police say the investigation confirmed that the accused was using the web provider Yahoo to upload child pornography. Police executed a search warrant as part of the investigation and seized several computer devices containing child pornography.

The arrest comes a month after a two-month investigation by Barrie Police led to the arrest of a 31-year-old Barrie man on Nov. 1, who is facing charges of both accessing and possessing child pornography. He used the social media gaming network Discord to upload the child pornography, the investigation said.
