Atlético Ottawa to play for CPL title on Sunday

Date:

Atlético Ottawa has a chance to win its first-ever Canadian Premier League title in front of the home crowd.

The team is hosting the CPL title game on Sunday at TD Place for the second-time in its brief history.

Atlético defeated Hamilton’s Forge FC in the semi-finals on Oct. 22, and will face Calgary’s Calvary FC. Under the league’s Page playoff system, Forge had a second chance to reach the final in this past Sunday’s second semi-final match up against Calvary but lost 1-0.

Forge defeated Atlético in Ottawa in the 2022 CPL final in front of almost 15,000 fans.

Atlético began play in the CPL in 2020. Calvary has been a member of the league since its first season in 2019.

The CPL is the highest tier of competition in the Canadian soccer system.
