Cops make drug bust in Vanier

Ottawa police say two men have been charged with drug trafficking offences after being stopped on Donald Street last week.

Police say members of their Vanier/Overbrook neighbourhood resource team were conducting “proactive patrols” when they saw a vehicle in the 200 block of Donald Street, and “engaged” with the occupants.

Police say the officers performed a drug search and discovered a “considerable quantity” of illicit substances, including fentanyl, cocaine, hydromorphone pills and crystal meth.

Police charged a 27-year-old man with four counts of trafficking in a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking and a 25-year-old man with three counts of trafficking in controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking, fail to comply with a release order, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000, and transporting cannabis unlawfully under the Cannabis Control Act.

Police seek victims after child porn bust

The Ottawa Police is asking victims to come forward after arresting a man last month for possession of child sexual abuse or exploitation materials.

John Norman Gordon was arrested on Oct. 24, but investigators say they’re “concerned that there may be other victims due to Gordon’s involvement in the community.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit.
