O-Train expansion ready to launch?

Date:

Is the south expansion of the O-Train set to finally make its public debut?

We got an update on the delayed mega-project from OC Transpo earlier this week, suggesting that things are moving in the right direction. The transit provider said trains on the expanded rail line have “successfully completed the first phase in trial running,” and the next phase of testing started on Monday, focusing on “possible maintenance and operational scenarios.”

It’s expected to last seven days. Once it’s complete, the south expansion will move towards what OC Transpo is calling “substantial completion, final readiness work, and regulatory approvals. This expected to take a minimum of three weeks, meaning the trains could roll again on the south O-Train line before the end of the year.
