Titans closing in on a playoff spot

Date:

The Ottawa Titans are gearing up for their final homestand of the season in a position that seemed unimaginable back in June.

That is holding pole position for the final wild card spot in the Frontier League’s Atlantic Conference.

Ottawa’s magic number to clinch a playoff berth sits at three after a crucial 14-5 victory over the New York Boulders on Wednesday. That means Ottawa will clinch a berth in the postseason with either three wins or three losses by the Boulders, the only team left in serious contention for the last playoff spot.

With the win, the Titans are 1.5 games up on the Boulders with four games to go.

Despite starting the season at 11-24, the Titans started to turn things around before the mid-season All-Star break, and returned to .500 by late July. Ottawa now sits at 50-42.

Before heading home to close out the season with a three-game series against Tri-City, the Titans are booked for one last tilt against the Boulders on Thursday night in Pomona, N.Y.

Tickets for Titans’ home games, including the playoff package, can be found on their website.
