Christmas trees are collected weekly on your regular curbside collection day. Beginning the
week of January 6 and ending the week of the 31, in 2025.
Please ensure trees:
- Are placed curbside by 7 a.m.
- Are free of plastic wrap/bags, decorations, and stands
- Are visible at the end of the driveway
- Are not placed on top of snowbanks
- Are accessible to the collector and any fallen snow is cleared
- Do not exceed 1.8 meters of 6 feet in length
Barrie residents can also drop off Christmas trees at the Landfill for free (must be within yard waste limits and free of ornaments, bags and stands.)

Barrie Winterfest 2025: A winter wonderland awaits
Mark your calendars for Barrie Winterfest, happening on Saturday, February 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, February 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Join us at Centennial Park, Will Dwyer Park, and various locations throughout the city for one of Ontario’s top winter festivals!
Enjoy a weekend full of fun with ice sculptures, lumberjack shows, family entertainment,
skating, and more. Highlights include the Snow Valley mini tube slide, a kite display by the
Toronto Kite Fliers, fireside marshmallow roasting, and a nature play trailer. Donāt miss the live ice carving with a dinosaur theme.

Check out the new waste carts on display
Curious about the new waste carts coming to Barrie? You can now see them in person at
several City locations. The City is moving to automated cart collection service on September 8, 2025.
All residential properties will receive a small 120L organics cart, with a gravity lock and a large 240L garbage cart. There will be an option to substitute for a smaller 120L garbage cart. To help decide what size garbage cart you prefer, garbage and organics carts are on display at the following City facilities until March 31, 2025.

Parking Reminders
Overnight On-Street Parking Restrictions:
The Cityās Overnight Parking By-law is in effect from December 1 to March 31.
On-street parking is not permitted from 3 a.m.ā6 a.m. within the Downtown Business
Improvement Area and from 12:01 a.m. ā7 a.m. on all other City streets.
Residents are reminded that there are possible exceptions to the overnight parking bylaw on December 25, 26, and January 1 from 12:01 a.m. to 7 a.m. unless the city declares a Winter Maintenance Event by 4 p.m. on the previous day.
These restrictions allow snow-clearing crews to keep streets safe and ensure that large
emergency vehicles have access throughout the City.
