The Barrie Airshow is this weekend! Don’t miss one of the last opportunities to see the Snowbirds’ Tutor Jets!

The Barrie Airshow, presented by Pratt Homes, returns to Kempenfelt Bay this weekend (June 13 and 14), offering one of the final chances to see the iconic Snowbirds in their Tutor jets!  With plans announced to pause Snowbirds performances after the 2026 flying season, this summer’s Barrie Airshow offers a rare opportunity to experience one of Canada’s most iconic aerial teams before the planes are grounded. New for 2026, Barrie’s first ever twilight airshow on Saturday evening with a fireworks finale. A free screening of Top Gun: Maverick at Meridian Place will kick off the weekend on Friday night, June 12.

For updates, follow @barrieairshow on social media or visit  barrie.ca/Airshow for more information.

Looking to get rid of unwanted or broken items? Try sharing or repairing them!

If you have unwanted items in good condition, consider sharing them with others! On Curbside Giveaway Day (Saturday, June 13), place gently used items at the curb for others to take. If you have a broken household item, register to bring it to the Barrie Public Library’s Repair Café, on Saturday, July 18, where volunteers will help you fix it (registration is required; registration opens June 15). These opportunities offer residents easy, practical ways to share their unwanted items with others, or repair broken items, ultimately keeping them out of the landfill.  Share what you don’t need. Barrie’s annual road line painting operations are underway

The City of Barrie’s pavement marking contractor has started the annual painting of road lane markings and arrows across Barrie. This includes white lane lines, bike lanes, and yellow centre lines and turning arrows. This work takes place each year to make roads safer for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.  Work is expected to continue for approximately six weeks. The painting typically takes place overnight, from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Intersection painting, which includes stop bars and crosswalks, will also take place over the next few months and will run until October. Drivers are reminded to obey all posted signs and drive cautiously through active work zones.

Resident waterfront digital parking permits have been extended to December 31, 2028. A waterfront parking permit, free for Barrie residents, allows you to park for free at select waterfront locations. Each digital permit is tied to a specific licence plate, so you do not need to bring anything with you or display anything when parking in select areas along Barrie’s beautiful waterfront.

Don’t have a permit yet? Visit barrie.ca/Waterfront Parking.
