Ottawa Santa Claus parade set for Saturday

Date:

Santa Claus is coming to Ottawa.

The Help Santa Toy Parade will take over parts of central Ottawa on Saturday.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. on Queen Elizabeth Driveway and Somerset St W. It will head southbound on the Queen Elizabeth Driveway before ending at Lansdowne Park.

Parade attendees are encouraged to make donation to Ottawa’s Toy Mountain, which provides gifts to families in need.

The event, organized by the Ottawa Professional Firefighters Association, has a new route this year, eschewing its traditional downtown path to proceed down the Rideau Canal.

Organizers are still searchin for volunteers, who can apply on their website.

It’s the 56th year of the city’s Santa Claus Parade, and the 27th year of the corresponding parade of lights.
