The Ottawa Gee-Gees begin their quest for a fifth-ever Yates Cup title on Saturday on the road against the Windsor Lancers.
The first-round playoff tilt comes after an up-and-down regular season that saw the Gee-Gees lose four of their last six games, including falling to cross-town rival Carleton for the first time in six years.
But their 4-4 record was good enough for the fifth-seed in the ultra-competitive Ontario University Athletics conference.
The Gee-Gees will have their hands full with the third-place Lancers, who defeated Ottawa at home 30-24 on. Oct. 11.
The winner of the Ottawa-Windsor game will advance to the OUA semi-finals on Nov. 1, with a spot in the Yates Cup title game on the line.
The winner of the Yates Cup will compete in the Mitchell Bowl this year against the Canada West champion for a spot in the Vanier Cup, the country’s college football championship.
The Gee-Gees have won the Vanier Cup twice, most recently in 2000.
Kick-off in Windsor is set for 1 p.m.
