Georgian College remains open despite province-wide strike by support staff

Date:

Support staff at Ontario publicly-funded colleges went on strike on Thursday, though Georgian College’s campuses remain open and classes have not been cancelled.

Roughly 465 support staff at the college are part of the province-wide strike. This doesn’t include instructors, librarians or counsellors, who are members of a different bargaining unit and are not on strike.

Georgian College said in a statement that those visiting its campuses should “leave extra time for travel, as information picket lines may cause delays accessing the college.”
