Baycats return to IBL finals

Date:

The Barrie Baycats’ are making a return trip to the IBL finals after putting the finishing touches on a three-game sweep of the Hamilton Cardinals on Tuesday.

Returning home with the eyes on a place in the championship series, the Baycats throttled their avian opponents 5-1, keeping the bid for a second consecutive title bid alive.

The Baycats won games 1 and 2 by similarly lopsided margins — 5-0 and 7-1, respectively.

Barrie, the league’s second seed, had a much rockier time in the first round, having to come back from a 2-1 deficit to knock off the seventh-ranked Toronto Maple Leafs.

Next up for the Baycats is either the Welland Jackfish or Guelph Royals. Those two teams face off in game four of their semi-finals series on Wednesday.

This is Barrie’s third trip to the finals since 2023; Barrie has won eight titles in franchise history.

Tickets for the finals can be found at barriebaycats.com.
