The Barrie Baycats have advanced to the second round of the Intercounty Baseball League playoffs after downing the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-4 in a winner-take-all Game 5.
The second-ranked Baycats were pushed to the brink by the seventh-place Maple Leafs but managed to keep their bid for a second consecutive title alive with two back-to-back wins on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Next up for the Baycats is the fifth-place Hamilton Cardinals. Their best-of-five series starts Friday at 7:35 p.m. in Barrie.
