Baycats look to snap skid

Date:

The Barrie Baycats are looking to get back into the win column on Thursday when they play host to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

It was those same Maple Leafs that started the Baycats’ four-loss skid last week. Since falling to Toronto on July 30, Barrie has lost two straight to Welland and then dropped a game to Kitchener this past Sunday.

Some home cooking could be just what the Baycats need.

All four of the Baycats losses came on the road.

Despite the skid, Barrie is still sitting comfortably in third place in the nine-team Intercounty Baseball League, and has already qualified for this year’s playoffs.

First pitch for Thursday’s game is set for 7:35 p.m. at Athletic Kulture Stadium.

After squaring off against Toronto, the Baycats head south to Brantford to take on the league-worst Red Sox on Saturday. Barrie returns home to finish off the weekend with a Sunday afternoon game against Kitchener.
