Ottawa, Carleton football teams fighting for their playoff lives

Date:

Two weeks away from the annual Panda Game, the Ottawa Gee-Gees and Carleton Ravens football teams are in similar positions, fighting tooth and nail for a spot in the playoffs.
Heading into play on the weekend that starts on Sept. 27, the Gee-Gees (3-2) are sitting in seventh place, occupying the final playoff position, while the Ravens (1-4) are two spots behind. With only three games left, both teams are staring down pivotal games on Saturday.
On paper, Carleton has the lighter task, hosting a 1-3 York squad that has allowed 31.3 points per game. It’s a match-up that bodes well for the Ravens, who are averaging 27.4 points per game, good enough for 11th in all U Sports this year.
Meanwhile, the Gee-Gees are in tough, facing off against the Ontario league-leading Laurier Golden Hawks on the road. Laurier is a perfect 4-0 and has only allowed 22.3 points per game, while scoring 36.5 points on average.
