Barrie Police Association endorses Doug Downey in Barrie–Springwater–Oro-Medonte

Date:

The Barrie Police Association has officially endorsed Doug Downey, the Ontario Progressive Conservative candidate for Barrie–Springwater–Oro-Medonte, in his bid for re-election.

In a press release, the association stated, “Doug Downey has played an essential role as Attorney General in advocating for stronger bail reform for violent offenders, ensuring community safety and well being is prioritized within the province of Ontario and that the police and those involved in criminal justice have the tools required to push towards a safer Ontario.”

Downey, who was first elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, expressed his gratitude, stating he was honoured to receive the association’s endorsement.

“Ontario PCs will always have the backs of those who keep our communities safe,” he said.

“We will continue to deliver real and tangible results.”

The association also cited the Ontario PCs’ commitment to public safety as a key reason for their endorsement, stating, “Premier Ford has always prioritized public safety and the wellness of our members who work tirelessly to keep our community safe. Having safe, healthy neighbourhoods to work and raise our families is a basic requirement that the PC Party continues to strive and work towards.”

The next provincial election is Feb. 27.
