67s split opening weekend of OHL season

Date:

The Ottawa 67s left the first weekend of the OHL regular season on an even keel.

Starting off Friday night at home, the 67s dropped a 3-2 decision to the Niagara Ice Dogs, despite outshooting their opponents 50 to 32. It was special teams play that sunk Ottawa, with all three Niagara goals scored on the power play.

The 67s, though, were able to rebound on Sunday, beating the Oshawa Generals 4-3 in overtime. The win came despite Ottawa trailing 3-1 going into the third.

Looking ahead to this weekend, Ottawa is hosting the North Bay Battalion on Friday before making the short trip on the 401 to Kingston to take on the Frontenacs on Sunday afternoon.

Tickets can be purchased here.
