Cart deliveries start June 30 for Tuesday (A&B) collection area
Garbage and organics carts will be delivered to the driveways of residential properties from
June to August. You don’t need to sign for them, and you don’t need to be home when they are delivered.
Your estimated delivery window is based on your curbside collection area. Delivery to properties in the Monday (A & B) collection area has been completed, with deliveries in the Tuesday (A & B) collection area taking place between June 30 – July 11. Your carts may arrive any weekday within your delivery window.
Once your carts arrive, don’t use them yet! Remove them from the curb and store them until collection begins the week of September 8.

Annual watermain maintenance program begins July 3
In order to properly maintain the water system, the City of Barrie conducts swabbing annually to clean water-mains. Water-main swabbing is happening in select areas of Ward 6, 8 and 10 throughout July.
Notices will be hand-delivered in advance to the doors of impacted properties. If you receive a notice, it is advised that no water be used during the times specified on the notice. To prevent any water use in the home, residents can turn their home water meter off.
More information about water treatment, including a list of the areas that will be swabbed, can be found at barrie.ca/WaterDistribution.

City celebrates Canada Day with expanded family-friendly programming
The City of Barrie is expanding Canada Day celebrations by hosting Canada Day On The
Move.

Each three-hour pop-up features free, family-friendly activities including a reptile show, face painting, buskers, games, inflatables, and more. Canada Day On The Move was named to Festival and Events Ontario’s Top 100 last year.
Centennial Park programming runs from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. with food trucks, entertainment, the Ultimutts Animal Actors Show, and a paid Moonwalk Entertainment Family Zone. entertainment to celebrate Canada Day.

Earlier collection possible during summer months
To help collection crews stay safe in the summer heat, when Environment Canada projects a daily air temperature or humidex of 30°C or higher, waste collection could commence at 5 a.m. If these temperatures are forecasted, residents are asked to put their waste out for curbside collection any time after 7 p.m. the night before, or before 5 a.m. on collection day. This allows crews to get a head start on the day and take more breaks to stay safe in the heat. On early collection days, your curbside materials may be collected any time up until 7 p.m.
When early curbside collection is in effect, an alert is posted at the top of barrie.ca by 5 p.m. the day prior. Notices are also posted on X, Instagram and Facebook, and sent to residents in the impacted collection area by City e-news (based on recipient profile) and mobile app notification (based on notification preferences).
For updates and curbside collection info, visit barrie.ca/CurbsideCollection.
