Winter Tips for Curbside Collection
Winter weather can make curb-side collection tricky! Here are a few important reminders to help ensure smooth service during the colder months:
Bin placements:
Place your bins at the end of your driveway, on the right side when facing the street, and out of the path of snow removal equipment. Keep them visible, even after snowfall, and clean up any spills caused by snowplows.
Bin storage:
Store bins in a dry area to prevent materials from freezing. Line your organics bin with a liner to keep contents from freezing to the bin.
Christmas Tree Collection:
Christmas trees will be collected weekly in January on your regular collection day. Ensure they’re free of decorations, not on snowbanks, and under 6 feet in length.

Overnight On-Street Parking Restrictions
The City’s Overnight Parking By-law will be in effect from December 1 to March 31.
On-street parking is not permitted from 3 a.m.–6 a.m. within the Downtown Business Improvement Area and from 12:01 a.m.–7 a.m. on all other City streets.
These restrictions allow snow-clearing crews to keep streets safe and ensure that large emergency vehicles have access throughout the City.
