CFL action is set to return to the nation’s capital for the first time since October.
On Friday, the Ottawa Redblacks will welcome the Montreal Alouettes to TD Place at Lansdowne for the team’s first home game of the 2025 season.
Ottawa’s regular season campaign officially got underway last week in western Canada last week, where the team dropped its first game to the Saskatchewan Roughriders by a score of 31-26.
After taking the early lead, the Redblacks trailed 31-7 entering the fourth quarter, before rallying with two late touchdowns.
Quarterback Dru Brown, playing his second year in Ottawa, had an 83 per cent completion rate last week, throwing for 413 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, wide receiver Justin Hardy, who previously played for the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL, led the team with eight receptions, 133 yards, and one touchdown.
As such, the Redblacks will be looking to win their first game of the year when they host Montreal on Friday. The Alouettes won their opening matchup last week, beating the defending Grey Cup champion Toronto Argonauts 28-10.
Kickoff for tomorrow night’s matchup is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Next week, the Redblacks will travel to Alberta for a Saturday afternoon matchup against the Calgary Stampeders.
The CFL season consists of 18 games, with the playoffs beginning in early November.
Ottawa will be looking to improve upon last year’s result, when they finished third in the league’s four-team east division before losing to the Argonauts in the first round of the postseason
