The Ford government is increasing land ambulance funding for Ottawa by 6 per cent as part of a $65 million across-the-province investment in emergency services.
The increase brings the province’s total investment in ambulance services in the region to over $62 million for this year.
“This investment by our government marks a significant step forward in improving access to emergency health services right here in Ottawa,” George Darouze, PC MPP for Ottawa’s Carleton riding, said in a statement. “Strengthening emergency services is critical to saving lives, particularly in our rural communities, where access can be limited. This funding will help reduce wait times and ensure timely care for those who need it most.”
Across Ontario, the Ford government says it’s spending almost $1 billion to municipalities in land ambulance funding, representing an average increase of 8.7 per cent from 2024.
The province is also investing $2.8 million Ottawa through the Dedicated Offload Nurses Program to hire more nurses and other eligible health professionals dedicated to offloading ambulance patients in hospital emergency departments.
