OC Transpo reducing service, parking bans in effect during winter storm

Date:

As a winter storm rages in Ottawa, OC Transpo is implementing its Severe Storm Schedule for buses on Thursday and the City has issued a winter parking ban.

The schedule comes into effect when 31 cm or more of snow is predicted or another severe weather event is expected. Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning, and the City of Ottawa has followed, discouraging people from driving if possible issuing bans on street parking on both Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m..

As for OC Transpo, bus service will be following a reduced schedule affecting most routes. Select routes will not be running, and the city is encouraging customers to expect delays and use the Travel Planner to “double-check” their route.

Many buses will be replaced with 40-foot and double-decker buses to improve service reliability. O-Train and Para Transpo services will not be reduced, but customers should still expect delays.

Meanwhile, recreation and culture services are cancelled on Thursday until 4 p.m., though cancellations could continue into the evening.
