Canada Post Service Disruption

Effective November 15, 2024, Canada Post operations have shut down and mail service has stopped, after Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) and Canada Post failed to reach a negotiated settlement. As a result of the labour disruption, City account holders may not receive their water/wastewater, tax bills or fines, or be able to make payments through mail delivery on time. However, City accounts must be kept up to date to avoid penalties.

Take Action:

  • Sign up for water e-billing to view and pay bills.
  • Review alternate payment methods.

Stay Updated:

Thank you for your understanding as we navigate this disruption.

Consider Leaving Your Leaves This Fall

Boost the health of your lawn or garden by mulching leaves with your mower instead of raking and bagging them. Here’s why:

  • Mulched leaves act as a natural fertilizer.
  • They break down quickly, enriching your soil with essential nutrients.
  • Leaving mulched leaves on your lawn saves money on yard waste bags.

Did you know? Leaves are also great for backyard composters, providing a natural cover for food waste layers.

While maintaining your yard, please follow the City’s Yard Maintenance By-law for a clean and compliant property.

Overnight On-Street Parking Restrictions Begin December 1

The City’s Overnight Parking By-law will be in effect from December 1 to March 31. On-street parking is not permitted from 3 a.m.–6 a.m. within the Downtown Business Improvement Area and from 12:01 a.m.–7 a.m. on all other City streets.

These restrictions allow snow-clearing crews to keep streets safe and ensure that large emergency vehicles have access throughout the City.
