Change is what Shipley is hearing from voters

Date:

Doug Shipley, the federal Conservative candidate for Barrie–Springwater–Oro-Medonte, said one message stands out from residents: they want a change in government.

First elected as MP in 2019, Shipley said that throughout his campaign, most residents have expressed their desire for the Conservative Party to take the lead in governing Canada.

“People are telling me it’s time for change – they are tired of the direction Canada has been going in,” he said. “With more than nine years of the Liberal government, people are tired of struggling to pay bills, struggling to buy groceries, housing concerns and more.”

Shipley noted that trade tensions between Canada and the United States also contribute to people’s concerns.

“The tariff issue with President Donald Trump is making people feel fearful and stressed,” he said. “It’s causing concerns with the economic climate across Canada, so people are worried.”

He emphasized that if the Conservative party is elected, they will address the trade tensions head on.

“We will fight against Trump because of his plans to impose more unjustified tariffs,” he said. “Our party wants to focus on making life more affordable across the board. That’s what Canadians deserve.”

If re-elected, Shipley said he will remain a dependable and engaged representative for his constituents.

“I’m a local guy so I like making sure the needs of people are taken care of locally,” he said. “My office will keep answering every call, every email and if someone needs us to help with a federal issue, we’ll be there to help.”

The 2025 Canada Federal Election will take place on April 28.
