The Ottawa Titans have re-signed Canadian catcher Victor Cerny for the upcoming season.
The 26-year-old Cerny, originally from Winnipeg, Man., spent 35 games behind the plate for the Titans last year, while notching 21 hits, 14 runs batted in (RBIs), and posting a .228 batting average.
The forthcoming campaign will be Cerny’s third season in the Frontier League, as he played for Trois-Rivières as a rookie in 2023.
Cerny played collegiate baseball at California State University, Northridge, and also represented Canada on the national junior team before turning professional.
Cerny’s signing gives the Titans five Canadians on the current roster, including Zach Cameron, another offseason signing from Hamilton, Ont.

Ottawa also announced the team had signed infielders Michael Fuhrman and Joey Wright.
Fuhrman returns to the Titans for a third consecutive season, after posting a .213 batting average over 81 games last year.
The 24-year-old from Los Angeles, Calif., is widely considered a utility player, capable of playing a variety of positions in the infield and outfield. Last year, Furhmann spent most of his time behind the plate, splitting catching duties with Cerny, where he led the Frontier League by throwing out 29 baserunners.
Meanwhile, Wright joins the professional ranks after completing a five-year stint at Immaculata University in East Whiteland Township, Penn. During White’s final season with the Mighty Macs, he had 72 hits and nine home runs in only 44 games, notching an impressive .391 batting average.
The 23-year-old right-handed batter mostly split his time between first- and third-base during his collegiate career.
According to a press release from the Titans, Wright is the brother of infielder AJ Wright, a two-time Frontier League all-star who remains Ottawa’s franchise leader in games played, runs, hits, home runs, and RBIs.
AJ Wright is also returning to the nation’s capital this year for his fourth season with the Titans.
Ottawa starts its 2025 season on May 9, when they will travel to North Carolina to play the Down East Bird Dawgs. The home opener is slated for May 20, when the Titans will welcome the New Jersey Jackals at Ottawa Stadium.
