67’s to take on cross-river rivals in rare interleague games

Date:

The Ottawa 67’s are hosting the Gatineau Olympiques on Friday, a rare matchup between two teams from different major junior hockey leagues.

The 67’s play in the Ontario Hockey League, while the Olympiques participate in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Both leagues send their champions to the Memorial Cup tournament.

It’s a unique clash — dubbed the Battle of the Ottawa River — that takes advantage of the National Capital Region’s border-spanning nature. Despite playing in different leagues, this will easily be the shortest road trip for the Olympiques, as TD Place Arena is located only 13 kilometres from their home arena, Centre Slush Puppie.

Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.

The two teams will play again Saturday afternoon, though this time in Gatineau.

Also, six players from the team have been ranked in NHL central scouting’s midterm rankings ahead of the 2026 NHL Draft.
