67’s split weekend slate, have now lost 4 of their last 5 games

Date:

The Ottawa 67’s split their two-game weekend slate, crushing Niagara 7-1 on Friday night but falling 4-2 to North Bay on Sunday.

But it’s the latest sign that the team is in a rut, with the 67’s dropping four of their last five games.

It comes despite all but one of those games taking place on home ice.

The 67’s have already clinched a playoff spot and the skid likely won’t hurt their position. The team sits third in the conference, six points behind division-rival Brantford for the lead.

Ottawa sits five points behind second-place Barrie. But even the 67’s caught up to them, they wouldn’t leap-frog Barrie as the team is leading the Central Division. The two division leaders are automatically seeded 1 and 2.

Next up for Ottawa is a visit to Saginaw on Thursday night. It’s their first road game since Feb. 12.
