Both Carleton and the University of Ottawa advanced to the provincial semi-finals last weekend, knocking off McMaster and Queen’s, respectively. 

The undefeated Ravens cruised past the Marauders by a score of 98-45, winning their 23rd consecutive game, after going 22-0 during the regular season. 

Coming off the bench, fourth-year Teresa Donato (Ottawa, Ont.) scored a game-high 25 points, while guard Kyana-Jade Poulin (Montreal, Que.) chipped in another 22 points.

Carleton, the reigning two-time Canadian champion, also topped the most recent U Sports national rankings. 

The Ravens will play host to Toronto Metropolitan University on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. ET.

Meanwhile, UOttawa beat Queen’s 71-52, thanks to strong performances from fourth-year forward Allie McCarthy (Grand Falls, N.B.), who led the team with 20 points, as well as Natsuki Szczokin (Barrie, Ont.), who added 13 points and eight assists. 

The Gee-Gees will take on the University of Windsor in Ottawa, also on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. ET.

Should both Carleton and UOttawa win their semifinal matchups, they would play each other in the provincial championship game.

Both the winner and runner-up of the Ontario collegiate playoffs automatically qualify for the national championship, hosted this year by the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, B.C.

On the men’s side, the Gee-Gees advanced to the semifinals, taking down Laurentian 81-50, while the Ravens were bounced early for the second consecutive year, after losing a nailbiter to Queen’s by a score of 86-83. 

It’s another stunning exit for the Carleton men’s team, which has won 17 of the last 22 Canadian championships. 

UOttawa will square off against Toronto Metropolitan University on Saturday, immediately following the conclusion of the women’s game.
